Backgammon is good for our Brain!
A new study disclosed what backgammon players may thought they feel but were not sure- according to the study, backgammon players sense a significant development in their psychological and cognitive abilities by playing the game on a regular basis.
The study also found that it doesn’t matter if you play backgammon online or offline with the board game. In any case, it helped to keep the brain from weakening and also helped to avoid many brain related illness. This study re-highlights outcomes of past studies by scientists that have shown that mind games like backgammon, chess, checkers and others, aid to maintain healthy brain function.
An additional study, similar to the one above, was reported in December 2004 in a journal of Neurology and discovered that playing backgammon for fun or for money and participating in intellectually motivating actions helps to prevent signs of Alzheimer's sickness.
A different study carried out on 469 people, aged 75 and above, was published in the NY times in June 2003. It pointed that the patients who were engaged more then once a week in playing games of backgammon, were less likely to suffer from to dementia.
All These studies prove an essential link between playing backgammon and improving the utility of the brain. Though, we should keep in mind that the main motivation for people playing backgammon is for social reasons rather then brain improvement.
